Ok, I've decided what replacent phone I want. Sony Ericsson K810i. T-Mobile apparently sell it for GBP169.99, and everywhere else doesn't want to sell it on Pay As You Go. Play.com has it for GBP200 too, so I might just get it from Play if the T-Mobile shop doesn't have it in stock.
If I get it from Play, it's unlocked, otherwise it'll be locked to T-Mobile and I'll have to get it unlocked so I can use an O2 SIM (Since they're best value for money for more or less text-only, and I should be able to transfer my phone number).

So, Sod's Law dictates that the T-Mobile shop won't have it, and I'll end up getting a different phone.

In either case, I'll update this post later (maybe) if I get one.

EDIT: I suppose it helps if I know where I'm going before I try to go there. The shop isn't where I thought it was, and I can't be assed going back out now I know where it is. Oh well, tomorrow I guess...

Speaking as someone who has until recently had Nokias and currently has a Sony Ericsson K608i, I'd never get a Sony phone again. It's horrible, constantly crashing and/or locking up, and when it does work it's very slow and awkward to use, and the battery runs down insanely quickly. [sad]

I got the K800i last month. It's badass and apparently the K810i is basically identical except with a different keypad and a few minor new features.

@ benryves: I've had two SE phones in a row and never had any software problems with either, sounds like you were unlucky.

Another vote for Sony Ericsson here. The build quality is fantastic, and feel a lot more solid than Nokia's efforts while still looking really stylish.

I'm on my 2nd now looking for my 3rd and I've never had any of the problems mentioned. I guess you were just unlucky!

I can't remember what the differences between the K800i and K810i were, but I know I looked at them both and decided to go for the K810i. All I can remember offhand is the K800i has a slightly more sticky out camera that keeps getting caught on pockets and the like.

Lunchtime today I'll get one. Hopefully.
